About me

Hello and Welcome!

I’m Donna Henderson, the creator and writer of ‘A Little Bird Tweets’; a writing blog that specializes in my own, original flash fiction – namely of the psychological-thriller and psychological-horror sub-genres, but also touching on other genres such as Romance and Science-Fiction. I am a self-taught writer, and a published author. My flash fiction ‘Angel of Love’ is included in e-book ‘100 RPM – One Hundred Short Stories Inspired By Music’.

My flash fiction is aimed at readers who are avid fans of the psychological-thriller and psychological-horror genres; and readers who are curious about delving into the world of darker, twisted plots, where troubled characters often exist.

Flash fiction is designed to be read in a short space of time. With the popularity of the Internet and ebook, and with so many of us having busy lifestyles, this form of fiction is becoming widely popular among readers. I believe that it is important for peoples’ mental health to take regular breaks from the routine of everyday life; and what better way than to do it than to grab a tea or coffee break and delve into a story! Flash fiction has so many positive elements; it can introduce the reader to new ideas and knowledge; it can provoke new emotions in readers that has the power to change your thoughts in a day, or even a lifetime; it is an excellent form of entertainment that can be enjoyed in five minutes in a day or night.

The inspiration for my writing can come from anywhere and anything; from the lyrics of a sixties song to dialogue heard in strangers’ conversation – from the sounds of nature to the filming techniques used in a horror movie. A key technique I use to trigger ideas for  my stories, is to identify a small key detail within a bigger idea such as an article, movie, lyric or painting, then magnify that key idea and develop it as my own through free-write  – which I then go on to compress into the flash fiction art form. I often undertake classic creative writing exercises, such as word-webs and word-associations. This helps to develop my writing skills and keep my imagination flowing. Sometimes, the smallest exercises such as a five minute free-write has the potential to be developed into a bigger piece of flash fiction – such as a short story or a full length novel. For ways to inspire your writing, please go to my On Writing page.

I live with my partner Paul in a small town in the heart of Hertfordshire; a woody place where squirrels roam and woodpeckers drill. It is idyllic, beautiful and inspirational. I can sometimes be seen daydreaming on the balcony and conjuring up strange stories as I listen to the melodic sound of church bells chiming in the distance.

I am currently working on my first full length psychological-thriller novel and I am also undertaking a Diploma in Novel Writing.

Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoy ‘A Little Bird Tweets’!

Hi, I love flash fiction! I am also very happy for you that you got published, because that’s the white Rhino for many writer’s! Your writing style appeals to me, it’s great! If you give a writer sand, you’ve given them all they’ll ever need to make an omelet! Thank you for the like and follow! Keep writing!

    • Hi lightningpen! I love flash fiction too. It enables you to capture a thought, a moment, put it into words; which then allows you to free up your mind for the next story. I love this quick process. Thanks for your kind comment – I’m glad you enjoy my writing! Thanks too for the follow – your blog is great – will certainly be checking back. Speak soon.

    • Hello fgassette! Thanks for your message and you’re very welcome; your photo’s of Central Park really captured me. 7. Stopped by to say thanks for the Follow and became so engrossed in your writing that I burned my supper. So thanks for the Follow, and you owe me a chimichanga. Since tortilla-wrapped protein is difficult to transfer via cyberspace, how about if I just Follow your blog and continue to enjoy your excellent writing? 😉

    • Ha ha! Your comment made me chuckle! I hope I didn’t create in you any hunger pangs – having made you burn your dinner! I do apologise. Thanks so much for taking the time to visit my blog, it’s much appreciated. Your blog is wonderful – and you are an amazing story-teller.

  8. Beautiful site, and thanks for visiting my blog, ConniesRandomThoughts.wordpress.com. I really appreciate it.

  9. I love your flash fiction! It’s so nice to find a fellow writer who delves in horror, though I’m more of a ‘mundane horror’ writer if you ask me. Thanks for the follow and dropping by my site by the way!

Keep up the awesome work, you’ve got me hooked! 🙂

  10. Since I’m not currently cooking anything, I’ve got the time to stop by and give you a heads up – I’ve nominated you for The Liebster Blog Award. There are some logistics involved in participating, but I’ve found them to be more than worthwhile. It’s been a great way to give a shout-out to folks whose blogs I admire (such as yours), as well as discover new ones. If you choose not to get involved, I totally understand, but I hope you will, and here’s the short link: http://wp.me/p1XDRR-aD

  18. I love reading Flash Fiction pieces! Thank you for the follow and I am certainly drawn into your writing as well!

  19. When I read that you’re published in RPM, I looked in my e-reader and noticed that I have the very issue that you are in. What a coincidence. I’ve had another such coincidence since I ventured into publishing.

Angel of Love is nice. You should send me an unpublished flash fiction piece or two, I don’t think anyone has sent me something in the horror genre yet,

  20. Hey there! Thanks for visiting my blog! 🙂

  21. Evie Garone says:

    • Thanks Evie. I’m glad you stopped by to check out my blog:) I look forward to reading your blog posts. Flash fiction is a wonderful way to express those moments of creativity, whilst hopefully not overwhelming the reader too much. You should definitely try your hand at it – let me know when you do 🙂 Donna

Thank-you for following my blog and liking my latest posts. My face lit up with a smile when I saw the title of your blog because it struck me as being one of the more creative and imaginative ones I’ve seen so far – including my own – on wordpress. 🙂

  24. Quickstepp says:

Thanks for the follow! Based on your description, we’ll have a lot of fun sharing stories!

  25. You know, I lived in England, once. Cambridge. I’m clear over in West Virginia now, where I’m from. Your mentioning of where you’re from got me to thinking about that; the scenery isn’t much different–squirrels and trees. It is nice to be surrounded by nature when you write–or, at least, when you’re coming up with ideas to write. I’ve written stories on my (shitty) PHONE before. But having a place of recluse is essential to good writing. Can’t wait for your next piece 🙂

    • Oh, how funny, I know Cambridgeshire very well as my parents live in the Fenlands! I lived there also when I was 19, but moved to other places for study and work. Cambridge is truly beautiful and an inspirational place to live. I have not yet visited the US, but I have browsed around many places there on Google street view. I’ve been through the back roads of California, Elvis Presley Boulevard, Las Vegas – it’s great to see even in pictures 🙂 Thanks for your kind words on my writing, it’s much appreciated.

  26. ladyharvey says:

Thanks so much for following my blog! I also write things that are a bit dark and a bit twisted, although only hints of horror. I look forward to reading your work.

  27. JMC813 says:

So glad I stumbled across your blog. You write in the exact fashion that I truly enjoy reading, and very similarly to what I hope my flash fiction to be. I am not young but very new to writing and sharing my work via blog. I also most frequently write about the darker, scarier subjects both through flash fiction and poetry. I find it very enjoyable and therapeutic, and I love to escape in the words and stories of others. I know I will enjoy following your blog immensely.
    Keep Writing

    JMC

    • Hello JMC, Thanks so much for your lovely message, that really made me smile! I am so glad you enjoy my writing – I guess the one thing every writer likes to know is that their work is read and appreciated by others. I am going to visit your blog this evening and I very much look forward to reading your work – I love scary and dark! Have a lovely weekend. Best Wishes. Donna

Yay, I have found a flash fiction writer! I also adore writing small stories (predominately fifties) 🙂

    • Hi Nina. I just visited your blog. You have some amazing poetry, and I love how you consider art to be an important element in writing, because I do too. It’s great to meet you my flash fiction friend! I shall look forward to seeing more of your work.

      • Nina Karadzić says:

Wow! Thank you! This made me smile! You have brightened my day, thank you!! As do I! I love writing little stories..I’ve recently found myself writing “fifties” – fifty word stories (no longer, no less) and it is one of the best experiences I have in writing…Just shows what you can create with so little…I am so glad I found you! Hope you have a wonderful weekend! 🙂

      • Aw, you’re welcome. I have written stories of 100 words, but never 50, I might have to try it. I love the process of cutting words and trying to cram in as much as you can – it really does test a writer. Have a lovely weekend 🙂

  40. Paul Beech says:

Donna, just spent a happy half-hour exploring your blog, so absorbed I barely noticed Hurricane Gonzalo battering my study window with hail. I’m a flash fiction writer and poet myself, so ‘A Little Bird Tweets’ is a must-follow for me. Cheers for the “likes” on ‘Grandy’s Landing’ last week.

    Best wishes from Mid-Cheshire,

    Paul

    • Paul, thanks so much for taking the time to look at my blog and commenting, it’s much appreciated. I’m glad the hurricane has settled now…even though it does provide a bit of dark inspiration at the laptop 🙂 I look forward to seeing more of your posts.

      Best Wishes,

  41. Awesome blog! I’m really enjoying your work! 🙂

  42. lucasredvl says:

Thank you so much for pop in to my blog, amazing poetry im happy that have chance to read it:)

  43. Thank you for your “like” on my blog post (https://dfsk.wordpress.com/2015/01/19/my-short-story-one-saturday-morning-in-indian-short-fiction/) about my flash fiction that was recently published. I was intrigued about your writing as well and sampled some of your fantastic flash fiction, which I really enjoyed reading. I admire the sheer volume of your flash fiction specially since I think this genre carries the weight of the word limit challenge on its shoulders. However, that aspect is also what makes it such a joy to read since the rewards are immense in just a little time and space. I look forward to reading more of your work. Good luck with all your writing endeavors! 🙂

    • Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and flash fiction. It is a wonderful form; one where you can express those sudden bursts of ideas, without having to think of the larger picture like you would a novel. Good luck with your writing and blogging. I will look forward to visiting you again 🙂

    • Iridescent Spirits – I love the title of your blog! I agree about the mind needing escapism. There is nothing better than when I leave the office to delve into a book, or start writing. I’m drifted away from the every day. I look forward to following your blog. Thank you so much for your comment and dropping by. Have a great day 🙂 Hugs back!

  58. married2arod says:

I’m just getting into flash fiction myself. More like dipping my toes in it. It’s just something to give me a break from my current WIP. I was about to suggest based on your blog you should definitely tweet, but after making it to the bottom I see that you do! 🙂

    • Thank you for your message. Flash fiction is a wonderful way to get those little ideas down into a completed piece. Yes, I tweet…I have a FB page also…so anything I post on my blog auto-updates on those. Enjoy your flash writing. Have a great weekend 🙂

    • You’re welcome, Barbara. Thank you too, for checking out my blog and for your lovely comment. I don’t think I’d be able to write without my love of art and music; it provides so much inspiration in terms of imagery and feeling. I look forward to reading more of your blog. Enjoy your Sunday.

  62. milliethom says:

Hi Donna. I’ve just had a quick browse through some of your work and will pop back later to view some more. It’s interesting that you write so much flash fiction, but not in response to any challenge – apart from your own, of course. So, you must set your own tilles, themes and word-lengths? I’ve started doing several FF challenges on my blog – all different, with different word-lengths and so on. I find them quite addictive, although I really write historical fiction. The first two books of my trilogy are on Amazon.
I’ll look forward to rading more of your work, and thank you for following me. 🙂

    • Hi Millie. Thanks for visiting my blog and taking the time to comment. Yes, I write my own flash fictions whenever an idea comes into my head and I need to express it. Sometimes I plan to write a set number of words, while other times I just write and end up with a random word count. It all depends on if I can find the strength to lose words or keep them. I love the idea of doing challenges and I might take to trying some to keep my writing warmed up – thanks for the inspiration 🙂 I will check out your books on Amazon – well done for getting your writing out and achieving two books – that’s an amazing feat. I am working on my first novel, alongside studying for a diploma in novel writing – I will hopefully finish one day 🙂 I look forward to following your blog. Thanks so much 🙂

    • Hi. You’re welcome. Horror doesn’t appeal to every one, but remember, there can be no light without dark, no sweet without the sour 😉 Best wishes with your work. Stay inspired! Donna

“Flash Fiction”… what a good idea. First time I’ve come across the term. I love the concept but have to stay away from psychological-thrillers. They scare me… a little bit 🙂

    • Thank you! Yes, flash fiction is a great way to express an idea in a story without having to consider a longer piece. Psychological-thrillers can be scary – but I like nothing better than to get inside a characters head, and take them to their desperate limits in plot 🙂

  76. Thanks for the follow and I am looking forward to reading your work. I must confess that I had no idea about flash fiction. You live and learn! Thank you.

    Good luck and happy writing!

    Matt

    • Hi Matt. Thank you for the follow too 🙂 You have a wonderful blog and inspiring writings. Wow, I hope your novel is going well. I aim to do the same at some point but at the moment it is in one of the phases where I am just thinking it all out in my head until I open that first blank page 🙂 I look forward to following your work and future book. Oh, cool blog, AnElephant loves little birds!

  89. Thanks for following my blog! I see you liked the post on dialogue tags–hope that wasn’t too convoluted but it’s a bit of a tricky topic to cover. Your writing looks really cool. Definitely going to check that out sometime, even if horror isn’t my normal genre 🙂

    • You’re welcome, Annelise. Your post was informative. I have been dipping into the book, ‘Elements of Style’ by Strunk – and so my mind has been concentrating on grammar of late – so your post resonated with me. I look forward to reading your posts. Thank you for taking the time to visit – I hope you will be a convert to the horror genre! 😀 Donna

  90. Flash Fiction is my fav! I’m so glad you found me, thanks for following Jean’s Writing, and I look forward to reading more of your stories.

  91. JeffC says:

Thanks for following me Donna. I’ve just read a couple of your flash fiction stories, and love them. Done well, I find flash fiction perfectly captures a moment in a way that longer-form writing doesn’t, and enables a single thought to percolate through my consciousness…. Thanks.

    • Thank you for reading my flash fiction, Jeff, and for your kind comment. I agree that Flash Fiction is a great way to record an idea that pops into your head. I like the thought that that thought is captured for life in that very piece. I want to try a short story (around 2000 words) next, as apparently this is a great form to master before attempting a novel (which I am working on in snippets). Thanks again 🙂

Hi, thanks for following my blog. Your stories and poems are full of dark menace which I think is a great thing for your genere.

  93. Ann Marie Thomas says:

Thanks for following my blog, hope it inspires you! Well done for the flash fiction, it’s hard

  94. milliethom says:

Just to let you know that I’ve nominated you for the Real Neat Blog Award. Hope you can accept, but will understand perfectly if you must decline. I can’t tell whether you blog is an Award Free one, Donna. Apologies if it it. Millie 🙂

    • Hi Millie. Thank you so much for the award, that’s so kind of you 🙂 I accept awards in my heart, although I don’t tend to post them. May be I should be 🙂 Have a wonderful day.

      • milliethom says:

I had a feeling you didn’t do awards, so there’s no problem there. 🙂 I’ll pop over and read your latest book review as soon as I get time. (That might be tomorrow!) 🙂

      • Thank you for understanding, Millie. I hope you enjoy the review 🙂 Actually, one of my WP friend’s had raised a question about the plot that I had left slightly vague, so I went back to edit a small section. It’s amazing how one question can lead you to think about a book in more detail. Have a lovely day…looks like the sun will be shining in the UK today 🙂

      • milliethom says:

I intend to read it shortly, and if it’s anything like all your other reviews, I’m sure it will be excellent! I’ve spent most of this morning sorting the first book of my trilogy out for CreateSpace. Thank goodness that’s done. Now I have to start with Book 2! Talk again in a bit… 🙂

      • Thank you Millie. Sorry for the late reply…it was my birthday yesterday so spent time away from my blog. Well done with your good work on CreateSpace…I need to check this out as I haven’t heard of it. Wow, your trilogy sounds great 😀

      • milliethom says:

Hope you had a great birthday, with lots of nice prezzies and family and friends to share your day. It’s my eldest daughter’s today (6th). She’s 42 – which, naturally, makes me feel ancient!. CreateSpace do print books for Amazon. You send them a pdf file of the text, to their specifications, and the cover – which needs to be the full jacket, not just the front, as for ebooks.I’m just waiting for my proof copy to arrive now.
As for my trilogy, I’ve more than half a book to write before I can call it that! 😀

      • I had a great day thanks. I spent the day with my fiance, who bought me tickets to see the Graceland exhibition at the 02 Greenwich. It showed all of Elvis’s possessions from Graceland which was fascinating. We also went to see The Kinks at the theatre! Happy Birthday to your daughter…I hope she had a great time.
Wow, I didn’t know you could get copies of books printed this way…that’s fantastic! Well done on achieving all you have with your book…exciting times ahead 🙂

      • milliethom says:

What a great way to spend your birthday. A day with Elvis, The Kinks and your fiance. It does you good to get out and about and enjoy yourself.
As for my books (I’m writing the third now) I’ll let you know what I think of CreateSpace when I inspect my proof copy when it arrives. lol. I’ll probably abandon the whole idea. 🙂

      • Thanks Millie…yes it was a wonderful day. Back to the commute and books this morning after a long weekend off 🙂 Yes do let me know what you think of CreateSpace. I hope it turns out to be great. I shall look forward to seeing your books x

      • milliethom says:

Work always seems worse after o lovely day out. Still, we have to earn a crust or two. I’ll be sure to let you know what I think of CreateSpace. My inspection copy is being ‘shipped’ at the moment and won’t be here until the 20th. Long wait! 🙂

      • Brilliant…I will look forward to seeing your inspection copy 🙂

  95. I am just getting into flash fiction so this is wonderful to see all your various stories. they are great.

  96. Nik says:

Hi Donna – thanks for stopping by and following my blog. Really looking forward to reading your work. Flash and micro fiction is such a lot of fun both to create and to read, and I find that works of 250 words or less keep my writing brain sharp in between writing longer pieces. I’m sure I will find some inspiration on this site! Cheers, Nik

    • Hi Nik. Thank you so much for stopping by and for also following 🙂 It is so true that flash fiction can keep our minds sharp whilst working through the larger writes. They are a great way to capture an idea that you would not always see being workable for a full length novel etc. I look forward to following your work. Thanks so much! Have a wonderful weekend. Donna

  97. Hi Donna! Thank you for liking a following my blog. I’m new to flash fiction and I’m very glad I found your site! Looking forward to learning so much already.

    • Thank you so much for visiting and writing, Arwa. Flash fiction is wonderful, and it’s so nice to meet like-minded writers such as yourself in WordPress. I look forward to following your stories. Have a great weekend 🙂

  98. Hey there. Thanks for reading my posts. Sorry I’ve been out of touch. Hope you’re doing well.

    Great blog, keep it up.

  100. Donna,
What an impressive resume. I too lean toward the dark side of writing. The mind of men (humanity) and the things one is capable of doing, fascinates me. I’m thrilled to make your acquaintence and happy you took a stroll through the Cow Pasture. Welcome to the fence jumpers. I look forward to your comments, feedback, and our conversations. Thanks for stopping by.

    • Hello Sheila,
Thank you so much for lovely comment. It’s great to meet another dark side writer. I have tried numerous times to write something lighthearted and happy, but the darkness always seems to seep in. I love how humanity and it’s capabilities fascinate you…I can imagine that you always ask the question ‘why’ when you see a shocking news story. It is said that that is usually the beginning of a great story. I’m glad to have discovered your blog and meet you, and I shall look forward to following your writing. Thank you so much.

      • Same here, Donna. One of my first short stories was about a woman, seemingly normal, murders her husband. As I look back on it the writing needs a lot of improvement, as does the plot. I am planning to expand into a novel. So, I’m thrilled to have someone I can discuss things these things with. Looking forward to following your writing and success, as well.

      • Your novel idea is intriguing and exciting, Sheila. You could definitely build on the psychology of the character with an idea like this. Some favourite books of mine that focus on disturbed character are Single White Female, Under the Skin, Before I Go To Sleep…fantastic psychological thrillers and always inspiring to me. It’s lovely to meet you in writing world, and I look forward to some future writing chats 🙂

      • Thanks for the encouragement Donna and he suggested readings. I’ll keep you posted.

      • Please do. Thank you, Sheila. Best Wishes

Hi I’m a late convert to flash fiction … only done a couple … both dark … counter balance to the contemporary romance I’m writing. I’m really glad you liked my post today else I doubt I’d have found you blog. I’ll be spending quite a while on here from now on! Good luck to you in all you do.

    • Hi. Flash fiction is a great form of writing. I discovered it about five years ago, and I loved that I could take an idea and capture it forever in this way. It also made me focus on word quality much more than I would have in a longer piece. It’s lovely to meet you and your blog, and I shall look forward to following your writings. Best Wishes

  116. Thank you so much for the follow! Flash fiction is a fantastic way to tell stories. Keep up the good work!

    • Thank you too, Jessalyn. Flash fiction is an amazing writing form. I think the quickness of the read suits the speedy mindset of today. Little chunks of story to digest without having to invest too much time. Thank you for the lovely comment. I look forward to following your work. Best Wishes 🙂

      • Best wishes to you as well! I often find myself too caught up in other things to really invest my time in a full novel, so flash fiction is the perfect remedy to that when I really want read.
I’ve read some of your pieces and I think they’re excellent! The poetry behind your words is gripping.

      • Novel writing definitely takes more commitment. I am working on my first novel (very slowly) but from what I am experiencing even when I am not sat down with paper and pen, I am going about my day thinking about my novel. It is like a baby in it requiring love and care. Thank you so much for the lovely feedback on my writing, I’m so grateful 🙂

I love the term, Flash Fiction — brilliant! We work on short timed sessions we call Freewriting, where we write and write and write for the designated period of time — then done. Of course, once we’ve written for 10, 20, or 30 minutes, we often find we could keep writing longer (and if we can, we do!). Fun blog 🙂

    • Flash fiction has an active and modern sound to it doesn’t it 🙂 I think the timed exercises really pull everything from the imagination; something we couldn’t achieve if we ponder over the page. It’s great that you have found a form that you love. And it’s amazing what you can find yourself typing after several minutes! Best Wishes with your writing. I look forward to reading more of your work 🙂

  132. M. S. Dobing says:

Thanks for stopping by and the like, Donna, much appreciated.

Loving the flash fiction, it’s something I could never do, I find it sooo difficult to get a complete story into a short piece, couldn’t even attempt a flash piece! My hat off to you ☺

    How’s the novel going?

    • You’re very welcome. Yes flash fiction can definitely be a challenge. There have been times when I have sat down to write a short piece and it has ended up becoming a short story 🙂 The novel is getting there, but it still needs lots of work. How is your writing going this year?

      • M. S. Dobing says:

Haha I can imagine – kudos for that, very impressed. My writing’s going well so far (touch wood). Auran Chronicles #2 is at the 60,000 word mark now so the end is in sight. Just working out optimum ways to plug #1 now so I’ve got a reasonable readership for when #2 comes out 🙂

      • Congratulations on achieving your word count, that’s great work! And to be thinking of two books at the same time is great too. I do need to step up a bit more with my writing, but I get into this habit of playing scenes out in my head before writing them. Best of luck with finishing your books. I look forward to seeing the finished products 🙂

Hello Donna and thank you for following my blog. I am fascinated by your genre of psychological and horror and as you can see from my blog I enjoy flash fiction. I look forward to reading some of your work and learning from it. I used to live in Hertfordshire but now I live by the sea in Scotland. Apparently Robert Louis Stevenson wrote nearby so i hope something might rub off on me!

    • Hello! Thank you so much for visiting and reading, it’s much appreciated. Reading psychological fiction books has always fascinated me, and it was from reading it that made me eventually want to write it. I visited Edinburgh when I was a child and I remember snippets of the trip with my parents and sister…like climbing a steep hill, having a photo done with a guard, snd buying a tartan pencil case. It’s funny the things we remember! I would love to visit again someday. Your home near the sea sounds beautiful…and a dream when compared to the commuting London hehe. It’s great to have met you and I look forward to reading more of your work 🙂 Donna

  142. Thank you Donna! And I look forward to following you too…you are an incredible writer! x

  143. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Congrats on working on your first novel. I am as well. It’s definitely a challenge. I enjoy flash fiction and began to delve into it not long ago. My specialty is short story, which is what I’m currently working on as a break from my novel.

    • You’re welcome…thank you so mu h for visiting my blog too 🙂 Flash fiction is a wonderful form…a great way to capture those flickering ideas and moments. I think the longest short story I have written is around 1500 words. It is a wonderful form too and really tests your skills. Congrats on having a novel in deelopment too, that’s wonderful 🙂

Your blog is amazing! You have a new follower and I’m looking forward to catching up on your flash fiction! I’m very new to it myself so hoping I’ve got the concept right.

    • Hi Madison. Thank you so much for visiting and following my blog too, it’s much appreciated. Flash fiction is wonderful isn’t it…a great method to capture those little ideas that come to mind without having to always work them into a bigger piece of writing. I’m looking forward to following more of The Fiction Cafe…you have some wonderful posts 😀 Best Wishes. Donna

      • Madison Ward says:

Thank you so much Donna! I’m so new to writing that its all a little bit scary but messages like yours mean so much to me! I hope to continue to please 🙂

I love flash fiction! they are little bursts of imagination!

      • Aw, you’re welcome Madison. I love WordPress, its people and their blogs…there is so much inspiration and motivation to be found here. I think you will never leave now you have found writing world 🙂

      • Madison Ward says:

I’ve never written but just got inspired while talking to my daughter on holiday and that was it! Joined in August and right now, can’t see I will be going anywhere soon!

      • It’s amazing when you get those little moments of inspiration to write. I shall look forward to reading your work 🙂

      • Madison Ward says:

Thank you. You may need to wait a while … I have no clue what I am doing … I’m learning as I go! lol

      • It’s the best way to learn ‘as you go’. I love to read the ‘how to’ books and there was a time when I was addicted to learning the art of writing! I tend to get ideas from the novels that I read now. When I look back on some of my older work too, I’d likely edit them now. It is amazing how writer’s evolve 🙂

      • Madison Ward says:

Thank you and I agree, we learn by doing! That’s interesting you say you learn from reading. I really should read more and looking to find some time to do this, I probably only manage to read a handful of books a year mainly to do with my busy family, work and now writing myself!

Maybe I should start a reviewing books I’m reading to get me more focused.

      • Sorry for the late reply…I haven’t been on WP for a while due to house move and pregnancy. Yes reading is really a great way to learn from writing…I think Stephen King swears by this method. I haven’t had much time to read lately but if I am reading a book I try at least a couple of pages a day 🙂

      • Madison Ward says:

I aim for two chapters a night but rarely fit it in. I should make more time to read rather than watch TV!

      • Two chapters a night is a good goal. There are so many good things on TV these days, and it can also be inspiring for writing too 🙂

      • Madison Ward says:

I’m liking a few dramas at the moment. I have s little bullet journal I write ideas down in.
