Tag Archives: summer

A mirage of a spider scales your bare back,

Peroxide bursts your plastic skin,

You cling inside a curtain, among wet tiles;

Where lime mould bleeds from bruised grout.

Mould fed the flies, now stuck in time; immobile on the ceiling from summer’s decline.

Crimson water spirals,

Drags your feet into the plug of black oblivion,

You scream to be free,

Scream not to repeat,

Repeat not; until your feet are safely entwined upon the seashell towelling bathmat.

Your mind dissipates like a phantom, like condensation,

Exhaled on a broken mirror,

You wipe your breath clear, you mutter vaguely,

Did I lock the door?

She handpicked the last rose of summer; watched the petals wilt into a ballet of depression. The ghost of his apology of deceit had bred in her mind for days. She knew that walking unafraid in a world devoid of him could never equal the burning desire of a restored heart. She crushed the rose in her hand. Someday she would visit his office and attempt to rekindle the love of her lover; a man whom she would always believe to be a raw diamond in the earth.

Reflections of Lady Abigail

I yearn for the pucker of youth that I once relished,

I ache for the shimmering face that could arrest the eyes of others,

A pursing of my lips only discloses the sunken contours of my face,

A wild flaring of my eyes only exudes bleakness,

My soul is dim,

I’m a shattered rose,

I’m crumbling,

I’m withering,

I crave the fragrance of light musk, summer dresses, flower picking, the lightness of step.

Time, you wait for nobody!

Time, you are not my friend!

I close my eyes in fear of my knowledge,

Inside I cry,

I fly,

I die.
