Hi everyone. I hope you are all doing well. Well 2025 was a busy year with life in general. There never seems to be enough time to focus on my creative interests – which includes writing. However, 2026 has something exciting in store because I have decided to create my own music EP! I have always loved singing at karaoke and recording cover songs, and I will be moving it a step further by writing and creating my own songs in an EP. This vlog has always focused on flash fiction and poetry and that will continue along with the addition of lyric writing – which in my opinion is very much like free-verse poetry. An EP is also fairly similar to fiction in that it has to have an emotion, a feeling, a theme, a story. I will be documenting my EP music creative journey on my YouTube channel ‘DonnaDarkle’. My short welcome video on the channel was posted today and is linked below. I’m not the most confident person in front of a camera but I’m hoping over time that it will become second nature. I guess I have to do what it takes to document my journey! So a question to you. Do you write lyrics, or have you ever put words to a melody? I think spoken poetry is a very close arena, and I believe some poets may well decide to move over to spoken poetry as a means to express their words through voice. It would be good to get a conversation going either over here or on my YouTube channel. I’m yet to meet new people within this area. The next YouTube post will be where I start the actual process.
